How can I set the Pylon-Monitor to HTTPS? Our Android tablets and phones refuse HTTP websites.

Asked · Updated · 2 answers

Short answer

The device's own page works over HTTP only (password-protected, home network only); a certificate on a device inside a home network would still trigger a browser security warning. On Android, use the online dashboard at pylon-monitor.com/dashboard: it is HTTPS and shows the same data.

Hello, how can I set the Pylon-Monitor to HTTPS?

Pylon-Monitor teamOfficial answer

The device's local dashboard works over HTTP only; HTTPS can't be enabled on it. It is, however, protected by your password and only reachable from your home network.

Data sent to our cloud travels over HTTPS, with the server certificate checked. For encrypted access, including from outside your home, use the online dashboard: pylon-monitor.com/dashboard.

Customer B. 🇮🇪 IE Question

I do understand that. However, our Android tablets and phones now refuse to browse HTTP websites, and we can't be the only ones in that position, so I suggest you add an option for HTTPS local access.

Thank you, noted. A certificate on a device inside a home network would still trigger a browser security warning, so we don't plan it for now. On Android, the online dashboard (pylon-monitor.com/dashboard) works over HTTPS and shows the same data.
